Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles has announced the launch of the newly updated Jawa 42 at a starting price of Rs 1,72,942 (ex-showroom), now Rs 17,000 cheaper. Offered now in fourteen colour schemes in both gloss and matte finishes, this includes six new options — Vega White, Voyager Red, Asteroid Grey, Odyssey Black, Nebula Blue, and Celestial Copper Matte.
Powered by the new 294cc J-Panther liquid-cooled engine delivering 26.94 bhp and 2.73 kgm of torque, the new Jawa 42 is claimed to have refined NVH levels, gear-based throttle mapping and smoother shifting. The latest engine revisions include a heavier magneto, a larger throttle body and entry duct, and a CP4 cylinder head for better performance. A redesigned balancer weight and new hub-type balancer gear have reduced vibrations, as per the manufacturer. It also gets improved ground clearance, retuned suspension, an enhanced seat, and superior braking ability.
The Jawa 42 gets completely blacked-out mechanicals such as the engine gearbox assembly, frame, and twin exhaust mufflers. Appearance-wise, there is almost no difference when compared to the previous iteration, but upon closer inspection there are a few details like the addition of spoked wheels and the new digital instrument console.
