What is it?

The PineAir jacket is the first touring jacket by Reise Moto that has been developed in and for India.

Is it any good?

Choosing a touring jacket in a country like ours can be very tricky. You could start your day in the sweltering heat with temperatures going beyond 40˚C and end the ride where it drops to chilly single digits. So, a jacket that can handle both can be hard, or almost impossible to find. And the PineAir jacket comes pretty close to being that versatile.

Being a touring jacket, it uses heavy-duty 600D textile for the entire jacket with the slide zones like the arms and shoulders getting Invista 1000D Cordura panels. This also means that it could get hot inside the jacket, but the heavy and smart use of mesh on the chest, upper back and the inner sides of the arms makes it very breezy.

Furthermore, it uses CE level 2 armour for chest, shoulder, elbow and back, yet the jacket doesn’t feel heavy nor does the armour hamper with the ventilation. That’s because Reise has used the Italian brand Safetech’s Easyflex armour which is not just light and flexible, but also has extreme ventilation. Of course, with a touring jacket, comfort and fi t cannot take a backseat, either.

The PineAir’s ventilation is complemented by a very comfortable fit with easy adjustments at the biceps, forearms, waist and an expandable bottom edge at the hem for those who need a slightly relaxed fit. There’s even neoprene trims at the collar and cuffs to prevent chafing.

There are two waterproof pockets at the front, and so far they have managed to keep the contents inside completely dry. Behind these pockets are hand warmers for those chilly winter rides. And that’s where there are limitations of this jacket. It doesn’t have any internal winter liner or an external rain liner yet. However, Reise offers a variety of rain liners from various brands which can be easily kept in the big cargo pocket at the back of the jacket.

How much?

At Rs. 9999, the PineAir jacket is one of the most affordable touring jackets that you can buy now. Despite that, there is no compromise on safety or features and it sure does look cool, too, especially in the beige colour. Even if you buy the rain and winter liners from other brands, this jacket still is a sweet deal.
