We’ve spent a fair bit of time with the Sonet over the past few weeks, and one thing has become crystal clear: it’s the perfect sized SUV for our Indian roads. It strikes a sweet spot brilliantly: not too small to feel compromised, and not too big to be cumbersome. Whether you’re navigating tight city lanes or slotting into tricky parking spaces, the Sonet just fits. It’s easy to place, confidence-inspiring, and quite effortless to live with.
Over time, this sense of ease grows. The build feels solid, the cabin is well thought out, and everything you need is right there at your fingertips. Importantly, Kia has retained physical buttons for key functions, a big win in daily usability. There’s no fumbling through menus; it all feels intuitive and familiar.
The Sonet has also proven itself as a dependable workhorse for us. From hectic shoot schedules to countless Mumbai–Pune runs, it has taken everything in its stride. It’s even doubled up as a support car, with camera crews comfortably working out of the boot without any fuss. The ride quality deserves a mention too, it’s stable and composed, making it ideal for those smooth tracking shots we need.
Ours is the X-Line variant, and that matte black finish adds a distinctive, understated aggression to its design. It looks sharp, and stands out without trying too hard.
All said and done, the Sonet comes across as a complete package. Easy to drive, practical, well-equipped, and stylish— it’s been a thoroughly satisfying companion with very little to complain about.
