BMW launched the next-gen X1 at the BMW Joytown festival in Bangalore. Available in two variants, the SUV comes in xLine and M Sport, with prices starting at Rs 45.9 lakh. It is based on the FAAR architecture and is longer, wider and taller than its predecessor. Its wheelbase has also been extended by 22 mm.
The SUV gets a larger kidney grille with reworked LED headlamps featuring L-shaped LED daytime running lights. It also gets a new front bumper, and redesigned door handles. BMW has also freshened up the rear of the car. On the inside, the new X1 features a curved display that sits atop the dashboard and houses a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
The X1 gets features like adaptive LED headlights, an automatic tailgate, park assist, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and ADAS. Sports seats are offered as standard, while the front seats get a massage function in the M Sport variant.
The new X1 is available with a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 132 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 23.4 kgm at 4,000 rpm. The M Sport variant is offered with a 2.0-litre diesel that outs out 148 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 36.7 kgm at 2,500 rpm. Both engines come mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.
