Piaggio has launched a new vehicle for the four-wheeler cargo market, called the Porter 700. With a ground clearance of 218 mm, it, according to the Italian manufacturer, caters to the last mile transportation segment.
Powering the vehicle is a single cylinder, 652 cc diesel engine that makes 14.75 bhp and 4.08 kgm — the latter from a low 1,600 rpm onwards. Measuring just under 2 metres in length, the Piaggio Porter 700 comes with a five-speed gearbox (connected to the rear wheels), a 15-litre fuel tank, 12-inch wheels, and disc brakes up front (drums at the rear). The 1.95-metre-long, 1.4-metre-wide loading deck can accommodate up to 700 kilos of cargo. And to top it all, Piaggio claims the Porter 700 is capable of returning 26kmpl.
Confident that the Porter 700 will outclass others in the segment, the company also offers a 2-year/75k km extended warranty. While the first year of warranty will be covered by the company, the next one year will be covered by an authorised third party. Also, the first four services are provided at free of cost.
Available only in one variant, it’s priced at Rs 3.18 lakh, ex-showroom, Maharashtra, and 3.31 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Commenting at the launch event, Ravi Chopra, chairman of PVPL, said, “Piaggio would continue to provide technological solutions in the last mile transportation market and would focus on further strengthening & dominating this category particularly the last mile transportation cargo market. The 3- and 4-wheelers will continue to co-exist.”
