The Mini Cooper S and Countryman Electric were unveiled in India, today! Here is what you should know.

Mini Cooper S

The Cooper S is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with 201 bhp and 30.5 Kgm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 kph in 6.6 seconds. This India-spec model is the latest iteration, with its first unveiling globally in September last year. However, the pure electric version of the Cooper S, available globally as ‘Cooper E’ and ‘Cooper SE’, has not yet been mentioned in the Indian market.

The exterior remains similar to its previous iteration. The round headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels (with an option for 18 inches), an octagonal front grille, and Union Jack tail lights make a return.

The interiors also retain many designs from its previous iteration including a 9.4-inch round OLED touchscreen serving as both an infotainment system and an instrument cluster, a Mini intelligent personal assistant, a digital key plus, and a fisheye camera. The car also comes with ADAS level-1 equipped.

Available in five colour schemes: Ocean Wave Green, Sunny Side Yellow, British Racing Green, Chill Red II, and Blazing Blue.

 

Mini Countryman Electric

The Countryman Electric, debuting in India, shares its platform with the BMW iX1 and is equipped with a 66.45kWh battery. It supports DC charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10-80 per cent in 29 minutes and offers a WLTP-certified range of 462km. The electric motor generates 201bhp and 25.4 Kgm of torque, achieving 0-100kph in 8.6 seconds.

The exterior now comes with an octagonal front and headlights. This EV sits on 20-inch alloy wheels. Aside from this, the Countryman retains a similarity to its predecessors.

The interior gets a 9.4-inch round OLED touchscreen which will also serve the purpose of infotainment and your display for driver information, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and more. The EV will also come with a heads-up display as an optional add-on. EV lovers will see the wireless charging tray replacing the gear stick. And yes, the car does come with connected car technology much like the Cooper S which was also unveiled today. The EV is ADAS level-2 and shall carry features such as adaptive cruise control, steering assist and more.

The Mini Cooper S is priced at Rs. 44.9 lakh, while the Countryman Electric costs Rs. 54.9 lakh. Deliveries begin in September. So stay tuned for our review!
