Mercedes-Benz India has finally announced the prices of the all-electric CLA, and prices begin at Rs 55 Lakh (ex-showroom). This is for the base-spec standard-range CLA 200, while the long-range CLA 250+ is priced at Rs 59 lakh (ex-showroom). There’s also a special CLA 250 + Launch Edition, which is available for a limited period and is priced at Rs 64 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 is available with a smaller 58 kWh battery that gives it a claimed range of 542 km (WLTP) on a full charge. The CLA 250+ and CLA 250+ Launch Edition get an 85.5 kWh battery with a claimed range of 792 km (WLTP). A rear axle-mounted electric motor powers all three variants, and while it produces 268 bhp in the 250+ guise, it produces 221 bhp in the 200 guise. All three variants have a healthy 34.16 kgm of torque. The CLA 250+ takes 6.7 seconds for a 0-100 kph run, while the CLA 200 takes 7.5 seconds. The rated top speed for all three variants is 210 kph.

Mercedes-Benz claims that with a 240 kW DC fast charger, you can add 400 km of range on the larger battery and 320 km of range on the smaller battery in just 20 minutes. However, the maximum charging speed available on the CLA 200 is 200 kW, while it is 320 kW for the CLA 250+.

Design-wise, the CLA EV looks like a healthy evolution of the second-generation CLA, which was solely an ICE (internal combustion engine) model. The third-gen CLA is based on Mercedes-Benz’s new MMA platform, which runs on an 800-volt architecture and features the brand’s MB.OS programme.

While the standard CLA 200 and CLA 250+ feature a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster and a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, the Launch Edition gets a 14-inch display for the front passenger. The Launch Edition also gets a special Cosmos Black Magno colour, gold accents in the interior and 19-inch alloy wheels.
