If Peugeot were to return to India as soon as possible, the 5008 SUV would have been their best, new product to enter the market. It looks great, has enough standout features, and if and when brought to the country, is bound to make people take notice. Here’s hoping the French carmaker returns, but first, some more information about the new 5008.
Set to rival the upcoming (and India-bound) Skoda Kodiaq, the Peugeot 5008 will be showcased at the 2016 Paris Motor Show later this month. It can seat seven, measures 4.64m in length and boasts a 2.84m long wheelbase and a 1060-litre boot space.
On the outside, it’s close to the Kodiaq in terms of overall stance. While on the inside, the interior is a unique, Peugeot affair. It gets three rows of seats, with the third row being entirely removable. The tailgate is motorised, while the i-Cockpit with two screens (an eight-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch HUD) is bound to make it more special.
Based on the company’s Efficient Modular Platform 2 (that’s like MQB but for Peugeot), the 5008 SUV will be offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines. With driver aids aplenty, the SUV also gets things like massaging front seats, a panoramic sunroof, Focal audio system, etc.
It will go on sale in the UK in Spring 2017.
