The Mahindra XUV700 has been awarded the Global NCAP ‘Safer Choice’ Award for being the safest car in India. This award is only open to automakers achieving the highest levels of safety for vehicles sold in India. The XUV700 is currently the safest made-in-India car to be crash-tested by Global NCAP. This is the second time Mahindra has bagged this award, with the XUV300 being the first vehicle that was conferred this award in 2020.
The XUV700 received the highest combined occupant safety rating of any car tested in Global NCAP’s #SaferCarsForIndia campaign. It achieved a 5-star Global NCAP rating for adult occupant protection and a 4-star rating for child occupant protection. It comes equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) which includes Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Brakes using both camera and radar. ADAS also features Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive cruise control, Smart Pilot Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and High Beam Assist.
The XUV700 also comes with Driver Drowsiness Detection which nudges the driver in case he is feeling drowsy. The Auto Booster Headlamp switches on automatically when the vehicle exceeds 80 kph at night for increased visibility. Another unique function is the Personalised Safety Alert which alerts the driver if he exceeds a set speed. It can further be programmed to sound out in the voice of a loved one.
The XUV700 comes with seven airbags which include curtain airbags, driver knee airbags, driver side airbags and passenger-side airbags, in addition to standard dual frontal airbags. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) is standard. The XUV700’s structure is designed to protect occupants in case of collisions. Additionally, XUV700 is equipped with frontal and side crash sensors for robust airbag deployment. All in all, it constitutes a very deserving win for Mahindra.
