BMW Group India has managed to register a growth of 13 per cent in annual car sales. The German carmaker managed to sell 10,405 BMW vehicles in 2018 (responsible for 11 per cent growth) and 700 units of the MINI, too. The firm’s two-wheeler division recorded 2,187 sales in 2018.
Major contributors to the sales include the new 5 Series, the 6 Series GT, and the company’s SUV line up. The latter is said to make up to about 50 per cent of sales. It comprises the X1, X3, X5. MINI also registered a massive 66 per cent growth, with annual sales of 700 units. The company mentions that 60 per cent of MINI’s sales are of the hatchback and the new Countryman.
BMW Motorrad, which introduced the TVS-manufactured BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS in 2018, has registered 2187 sales in 2018. It’s the first full calendar year that two-wheeler division has completed in India. From April to December 2017, the company sold 252 units. In 2018, more than 75 per cent of the total sales came from the G 310 R and G 310 GS.
BMW is also looking at strengthening its SUV portfolio in the country even more. The full-sized X7 and the X4 SUV Coupe will be launched this year, the company has confirmed officially. The all-new Z4, and the next-generation versions of the X5 and 3 Series are likely to be added to the portfolio in 2019.
