The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift was showcased not too long ago in its concept form, and the Japanese car maker has finally revealed specifications as well. The new Swift will be powered by an all-new Z12E engine with mild-hybrid tech, and with that, it also receives a host of new equipment.

We already know what the new Swift looks like, and you can click here to read about it. In terms of the powertrain, the new Z12E engine is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder unit with 80.8 bhp and 11.4 kgm of torque on tap. This engine also gets a 12V mild-hybrid system, and can be had with either a five-speed manual transmission, or a CVT. However, Maruti Suzuki is likely to continue with the AMT instead of bringing the CVT here. The Swift also gets Suzuki’s Allgrip all-wheel drive system, which again is unlikely to be featured here.

The interiors have been completely revamped

The interiors have gone through a complete revamp, but we are glad to see Suzuki has not gone fully digital and retained the twin analogue dials on the instrument cluster — there’s just something irresistible about a good pair of dials. The 9-inch infotainment screen appears to be lifted off of the Baleno, along with the controls on the centre console. It gets a tri-tone theme on the inside, with black and grey being the primary colours, along with minor touches of silver.

The new Swift is equipped with ADAS features such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, driver monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and lane departure prevention among other things. However, only time can tell whether these will make it to the India-spec Swift or not.

The rear of the new Swift is not too different from the current-gen Swift

The 2024 Maruti Swift will go on sale globally during the spring season of 2024, and we can expect it here sometime soon after that, most likely in the second half. We can also expect it to be priced at a slight premium over the outgoing car, but given the Swift’s track record, Maruti Suzuki seems set to have yet another winner on its hands. What do you think?
