#SmarterBolder isn’t a word in any of the dictionaries but Nissan India clearly has made a new word for a vehicle that’s not as new. The 2017 Nissan Terrano has been launched, at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and to justify the mentioned new word (a hashtag, no less), the company has included a total of 22 new features.
Underneath it’s the same platform like that of the Duster, and so are the engines. There’s also the optional, very convenient six-speed AMT unit, apart from the usual manual gearbox choices you get depending on the engine. AWD is still not a part of the portfolio, which is a disappointment, but with it priced at a premium over the Duster, the AWD-equipped version would have been very expensive.
But since you pay extra money for the Terrano, you also get a few extra features. And in case you’ve forgotten, 22 of those have been introduced on this very model. Let’s have a look at them. The long list includes (in order of relevance) cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (finally!), steering-mounted telephony/audio controls, new steering wheel, an updated dashboard design, one-touch lane-change indicators, anti-pinch driver-side window, etc. There’s also a 2-year/50,000 km warranty and free roadside assistance, too.
Nissan India’s President, Guillaume Sicard, said, “The New Nissan Terrano embodies our commitment to keep focused on what consumers want and value. The New Terrano keeps its bold road presence, in line with Nissan’s global SUV heritage, while offering a more refined interior space and smart features. The 22 new smart and bold features will empower our customers to enjoy a more comfortable, convenient and pleasurable drive in style.”
