Triumph has unveiled a special edition of its Trident 660, called the Trident 660 Tribute Special Edition. This model pays homage to Hinckley’s long run of inline-three engines and the five-time Isle of Man TT winner — the 1970 Trident race bike, nicknamed ‘Slippery Sam’.
Unfortunately, the list of changes doesn’t run as long as the name of the bike. This special edition model comes with a unique livery, a flyscreen, belly pan and Triumph Shift Assist. Despite the minimal changes to the design, the bike looks stunning in the racing livery, but it also leaves you lusting for more.
There are no changes to the 660cc liquid-cooled inline-triple motor that puts out 80 horses and 6.4 kgm. Even the electronics and other equipment remain unchanged. That said, the 41 mm Showa forks and preload-adjustable monoshock from the standard model could have been replaced by adjustable units. And to top off everything, Triumph could have even thrown in an Arrow exhaust as standard.
But then again, Triumph is offering the Tribute at the same price as the standard model in the US and at $30 premium in the Canadian market. Not a bad deal, right? This variant will be on sale only for a year, and hopefully will make it to India in the coming months.
