A few days ago Triumph Motorcycles USA issued a recall of approximately 1,242 motorcycles in the United States due to faulty switchgear. The motorcycles affected by the recall included the Triumph Street Triple R, Triple S and the Street Triple RS. Subsequently, the recall has now extended to India as well wherein around 100 examples of the Street Triple RS have been affected by the recall.
The issue is present with the left-hand-side switchgear which is prone to water seepage which can further result in malfunctioning of the headlights and turn indicators. The motorcycles affected by the recall belong to the batch manufactured between March 19, 2017, and January 4, 2018. Owners of the affected motorcycles will be contacted by the bike-maker for a check-up and rectification at its authorised workshops. Needless to mention, since this is an official recall, the dealers will replace the faulty part with a new one at no cost to the owner.
Official Statement: Triumph Motorcycles India is in the process of launching a safety recall concerning the left-hand switch cube on certain Street Triple RS to remedy an indicator and main beam malfunction caused by water ingress into the switch cube internals. Approximately 100 motorcycles are affected in India. In due course of time, the brand shall be proactively contacting the customers through their respective dealership network for all the necessary actions.
