The Achiever, Hero MotoCorp’s competitor for the lower end of the 150cc market, gets an upgrade, with a number of new features and small styling tweaks. The new Achiever 150 has been launched at Rs 62,800 (ex-showroom,
Delhi), with the drum brake version cheaper by a thousand rupees – Rs 61,800 – which is what the current disc-brake Achiever 150 is priced at.
So what do you get by paying Rs 1,000 more for the new Achiever 150 (with disc-brakes)?
For one, the Achiever gets Hero’s proprietary start-stop system, called i3S, which was first seen on the Splendor. The instrument binnacle also gets a refresh with a new design for the speedometer and tachometer pods, and a ‘Automatic Headlamp On’ feature, which is, an automatic, headlamp, on, feature.
The design of the headlamp cowl and the shape of the headlamps have been changed, along with the side panels and the body graphics. Importantly, the Achiever 150’s fuel tank has been enlarged, to 13 litre, up from 12.5 litre.
There are no changes to the engine though, with the 149.2cc single cylinder producing 13.4 bhp and 1.3 kgm at 8000 rpm and 5000 rpm respectively.
Along with the new Achiever 150, Hero has unveiled a special edition of the Achiever, with the India tricolor inspired graphics and badges. It celebrates the fact that Hero has made produced over 70 million two-wheelers over its entire history, and only 70 of these are going to be sold.
The only other 150cc bike on sale which is cheaper than the Achiever 150 is the Discover 150S, which is priced at Rs 54,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
