Jeep India has marked an important milestone in the brand’s history with the launch of the Compass 85th Anniversary Edition, a special version of its popular SUV priced at ₹26.70 lakh (ex-showroom). Designed primarily as a cosmetic and feature upgrade, the anniversary edition will be restricted to just 85 units, making it a relatively exclusive proposition for Jeep enthusiasts and Compass buyers.

Bookings for the limited-edition SUV are now open through authorised Jeep dealerships as well as the company’s official online platform. While the Compass retains its familiar mechanical package, Jeep has added a number of styling enhancements and exclusive details to distinguish the anniversary model from the standard SUV.

The exterior follows an all-black theme, giving the Compass a more understated yet aggressive appearance. This is complemented by gloss-black alloy wheels and 18-inch tyres, while Mayan Gold accents add contrast to the dark exterior. Anniversary-specific badging and detailing further identify the special edition.

Jeep is also offering an 85th Anniversary AXS package, which allows customers to add several technology and convenience features to the SUV. The package includes ambient lighting, illumination for the sunroof, a digital inside rear-view mirror and front and rear dash cameras, among other anniversary-exclusive additions. This gives buyers the opportunity to further personalise their Compass while adding useful equipment for everyday driving.

The standard equipment list remains generous. The Compass continues to feature a panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control and a powered tailgate. Power-operated front seats also continue to be part of the package, ensuring that the anniversary edition maintains the premium character expected from the SUV.

Under the bonnet, however, there are no changes. The Compass 85th Anniversary Edition continues with Jeep’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 168bhp and 35.69 kgm of torque. The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, with buyers getting the choice of both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains.

The SUV also retains the Compass’ existing mechanical hardware, including independent rear suspension and Frequency-Selective Damping (FSD), which is designed to balance ride comfort with body control. Speed Select Control further enhances its off-road usability, particularly on challenging surfaces where maintaining a controlled pace can be important.

With only 85 examples planned for India, the Compass 85th Anniversary Edition is aimed squarely at buyers looking for exclusivity rather than additional performance. Jeep has kept the proven mechanical package intact while adding distinctive styling, anniversary-themed touches and extra equipment.

For Compass loyalists and collectors, the limited production run could be the biggest attraction. At ₹26.70 lakh, the special edition offers a way to own a more exclusive version of Jeep’s SUV while celebrating the company’s 85-year journey.
