Yes, the BMW X4 had been discontinued a while back, earlier this year to be precise. However, it has now returned, and it is being offered in the M40i trim. Under the hood, the X4 M40i gets a 3-litre twin-turbo petrol engine, packing 355 bhp and 50.98 kgm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. If you’re wondering, the X4 M40i is capable of reaching triple digits in just 4.9 seconds.
The X4 M40i retains its sports coupe design and the overall silhouette from before. However, it gets special treatment on the outside as well as inside, to differentiate it from the regular X4s you see on the road. Up front, it gets a M-specific grille finished in black, and the headlamps have been given a darker tint as well. Elements such as the roof rails, window garnish, and even the twin tailpipes have been black treatment. THe X4 M40i sits on 20-inch M light alloy wheels as standard fitment with jet black treatment, and it makes use of M Sport brakes with gloss red brake callipers. The interiors of the BMW X4 M40i are upholstered in Vernasca leather, which can be kitted out in the shades of either black or Tacora red. It also makes use of carbon fibre inserts in the cabin to further lay emphasis on its sporty nature. The front passengers get exclusive access to sport seats with M seatbelts. Other features include an adaptive M suspension, BMW Live Cockpit professional with 3D navigation on the 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a head-up display, gesture control, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, parking assistant, cornering brake control, and a 360-degree camera among others.
