It was going to be a hectic month. Apart from the office meetings and shoots, there was Ganesh Chaturthi, which meant visiting friends and family, even if that required going to the extreme ends of the city in a day. And with the rain, ever-going construction work, and of course, the big public Ganesh mandals, commutes weren’t going to be easy. Thankfully, the Nissan Magnite EZ Shift arrived just in time to make things easy for me.
The next few days saw me ferrying my family from one Ganpati to the next, taking all the blessings I needed to make it peacefully through all the chaos. With the Magnite for company, getting stuck in traffic, sometimes for hours at a stretch, didn’t seem like a bad idea. Even if we weren’t listening to music, the cabin insulation was just about right to keep the incessant honking and loud music outside the car from getting to us.
What was surprising for me was that even after spending so much time in the car, my parents never complained about the space or the ride quality. In fact, it came to a point where they wouldn’t mind if I took a ‘shortcut’ through some patches.
through crawling traffic, fast driving or even quick overtakes were challenging. ‘Pedal to the metal’ kind of driving required me to keep my momentum… always. Sudden throttle inputs were met with so much delay sometimes that I found it riskier than driving slightly fast. And the brakes did their job well, so I had one less thing to worry about.
Come to think about it, the Magnite’s AMT only improved my driving. Now, without being a hazard to others or myself, I can actually make my way through the traffic like I never did before. Guess, this Nissan did make things a lot ‘EZ’ for me.
