What is it?
The KYT R2R Pro is a touring helmet featuring a thermoplastic shell and both ECE 22.06 and ISI certifications. This indicates that is rated for occasional track use too, and gets a double D-ring fastener to add to that. The full-face helmet has been put through rigorous wind-tunnel testing to make it as aerodynamic as possible.
Is it any good?
Having used the helmet for a good two months, the first thing that could be noticed was the range of vision, which in comparison to other helmets in this range, is so much better. Along with visibility, ventilation and overall comfort are other strong points. There is more than sufficient airflow within the helmet while on the move. The interior padding is soft and plush, providing a snug fit without feeling overly tight. The helmets from KYT tend to run one size smaller, so it would be best to keep that in mind when buying one. The moisture-wicking lining does an excellent job of keeping sweat at bay during longer rides, ensuring that comfort is maintained even on hot days, especially in the terrible Mumbai heat.
In terms of appearance, the helmet showcases a sleek, modern design that stands out on the road, with vibrant and appealing graphics, though the matte finish wasn’t really easy to keep clean. Another thing that was observed was that the R2R Pro is susceptible to a lot of wind noise, as has been noticed is the case with a lot of its helmets, like the NZ Race and TT Course. This isn’t a dealbreaker in general, but this can get irritating during long rides. Overall, the KYT R2R Pro feels like a well-built helmet, and sitting right in the middle of KYT’s product range, it is a good value-for-money product. Even more so, considering you value the safety of your noggin, which this helmet will ensure.
