Volkswagen has opened two new dealerships in Prayagraj and Meerut to further their reach in Uttar Pradesh, India. The current network includes new openings at 14 sales centres and nine service facilities.

Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passengers Cars India, has stated that Volkswagen has noticed a nearly 40 per cent increase in sales of Volkswagen cars in tier two and three cities across the country. He further stated that the motor company now seeks to further their expansion into the country by focusing on these cities.

The Volkswagen Virtus is offered in two engine variants; Volkswagen Virtus Performance Line and Volkswagen Virtus Dynamic Line AT. While the former features a 1498cc, I4, turbo-petrol producing a peak power of 148 bhp@5000-6000 rpm and a peak torque of 25.49 kgm@1600-3500 rpm mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox, it starts at Rs. 16.62 lakhs.

While the other variant, the Volkswagen Virtus Dynamic Line AT features a 999cc, I3, turbo-petrol producing a peak power of 114 bhp@5000-5500 rpm and a peak torque of 18.15 kgm@1750-4500 rpm and is mated to a six-speed automatic or manual transmission started at Rs. 11.55 lakhs.

The Volkswagen Taigun is also offered in two engine configurations Volkswagen Taigun Dynamic Line AT & MT and the Volkswagen Taigun Performance Line AT & MT.

The former is a 999cc, I3, turbo-petrol producing a peak power of 114 bhp@5000-5500 rpm and a peak torque of 18.15 kgm@1750-4500 rpm and is mated to a six-speed automatic or manual transmission started at Rs. 11.69 lakhs.

The latter is a 1498cc, I4, turbo-petrol producing a peak power of 148 bhp@5000-6000 rpm and a peak torque of 25.49 kgm@1600-3500 rpm mated to a seven-speed automatic or manual transmission, it starts at Rs. 16.62 lakhs.
