Mercedes-Benz has just launched the fifth-gen C-Class in the Indian market with three engine options. The C200 model is priced at Rs 55 lakh and gets an updated 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol motor. The C220d is priced at Rs 56 lakh and carries a 2.0-litre diesel while the C300d sits at the top with the 2.0-litre diesel in the AMG guise at Rs 61 lakh. All three engine options get a 48-volt mild hybrid system.
The ‘baby S’ seems all grown up now, not just in terms of engine performance, but it has become longer by 65 mm while the wheelbase has also increased by 25 mm. This has resulted in better space on the inside and the C-Class even sits higher from the ground. It also gets the option of 18-inch alloys in the AMG spec, in contrast to the 17-inch wheels of the base model.
The C-Class cabin houses a kitted out infotainment system consisting of an 11.9-inch vertical display in the center of the dashboard, powered by the latest generation of the MBUX system with AI. It has a fingerprint reader and options to set personalized driver profiles.
This sleek machine also features a ton of creature comforts, along with intelligent car connectivity like ‘Car to X’, through which Mercedes cars with MBUX can communicate with each other and share information on a real-time basis.
All in all, the German brand has managed to outclass the previous generation model in every aspect with the new-gen W206 C-Class, keeping in mind that it is still quite reminiscent of the flagship S-Class, but distinctly in a class of its own.
