Royal Enfield is all set to host its first Himalayan Basecamp in Ladakh next month and going by the latest teaser, the star of the show is going to be the new Himalayan 440. The news coincides with the tenth anniversary celebration of the OG Himalayan 411.
We have already seen the 411 long-stroke motor receive the 440cc treatment in the Scram 440 and this will be carried over to the Himalayan as well. The LS440 engine is expected to dish out 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm and will be paired with a six-speed gearbox. With a strong low-end grunt and easy-going top-end, this should be great for the long hauls.
The Himalayan 440 could carry the same effortless off-road capability that it had earlier. So, a plush long-travel suspension setup, 21-/17-inch spoked wheels with dual-purpose tyres and switchable ABS can be expected on this model.
What remains to be seen is whether Royal Enfield will add the modern bits like the TFT console and tubeless rims to the OG Himalayan, apart from the usual LED illumination as seen on the Scram 440.
Royal Enfield will be revealing the Himalayan 440 and announcing its pricing on September 4 — the first day of the Himalayan Basecamp.
