Tata Motors launched its most affordable electric car, the Tiago EV. Available in four variants, XE, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Tech LUX, the pricing starts at Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It uses Tata’s Ziptron high-voltage architecture featuring a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor.
The Tiago EV features two battery options, a 19.2 kWh battery pack offering a maximum range of 250 km and a 24 kWh battery offering 315 km (MIDC) on a single charge. The lower variants come with a 3.3 kW AC charger, while a 7.2 kW AC charger is available on the top-spec XZ+ Tech LUX trim. The Tiago EV is also compatible with fast charging and can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 57 minutes using a DC fast charger. Tata also claims the car can reach 60 kph from a standstill in 5.7 seconds.
The Tiago EV comes with ZConnect as a standard offering. It includes features such as remote AC on/off, Geo-fencing, Smartwatch connectivity, real-time charge status and a dynamic charger locator, among others. The car also gets features like automatic climate control, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking camera and multi-mode regen settings.
On the outside, there is no difference from the ICE version, except for a blanked-out grille with the ‘EV’ badge and blue trim along the bottom edge. The car also comes equipped with automatic projector headlamps, fog lamps and dual-tone alloy wheels. Bookings for the Tiago EV open on October 10, and deliveries will also commence in January 2023.
