Octavia, huh? That’s a name you don’t hear very often nowadays, sadly. Blame the SUV onslaught and times we live in. It’s hard to believe that four years have passed since the debut of the fourth-gen model, which had a relatively short-lived existence in India. However, Skoda is preparing a facelift for the fourth-gen model, which is set to be unveiled on February 14. Unless you have a date for Valentine’s Day, we reckon this is something you might be excited about.

The tail lamps receive slight tweaks

Now, obviously details are scarce for now, but given the sketches Skoda has released, the facelifted Octavia is not going to deviate too much from the current-gen model. However, it is likely to feature design elements inspired by the new Kodiaq and Superb, such as a larger grille, an LED light bar, and more. The facelifted Octavia will feature the next-gen LED Matrix headlights with a revised signature, and also Crystallinium; an element that gives the headlight housing a tinge of blue. The tail lamps will also receive slight tweaks and a new signature.

Under the hood, things are likely to remain unchanged, with a host of petrol, diesel, and hybrid powertrains as well. Skoda has confirmed the facelifted Octavia will be available in vRS and Sportline trims globally. The one we got was the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol producing 188 bhp and 32.63 kgm of torque, while paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The big question here is, will we get the Octavia back, or is it gone for good? As enthusiasts, we hope for the former.
