Who doesn’t think of going nuts on a racetrack when you hear the word ‘Porsche?’ The Porsche 911 is, well, we simply cannot do justice to its abilities with mere words, and the Porsche Taycan looks to carry that legacy forward in the electric era. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the Taycan Turbo S have set new records for the fastest production car and the fastest production EV at the Buddh International Circuit.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS set a time of 1:59 minutes at the BIC

Both cars were driven by India’s first Formula 1 driver, Narain Karthikeyan. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS set a record time of 1:59 minutes, shattering the previous record of 2:00 minutes, which was also set in a GT2 RS, driven by Karthikeyan back in 2019. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS registered speeds above 250 kmph on the main straight of the BIC. Karthikeyan said that the GT3 RS must be about 20-25 kmph faster than the GT2 RS in the long D section and the faster corners.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is now the fastest production EV at the BIC

Meanwhile, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S wasn’t far behind, setting a record of 2:10 minutes for the fastest production EV at the race track. The Taycan Turbo S is powered by a dual electric motor setup, churning out a mammoth 739 bhp and 107 kgm of torque.

Porsche recently launched the new-generation Panamera at a price tag of Rs 1.67 crore (ex-showroom), and it is also gearing up for the global premiere of the Macan EV. Follow us on our social handles and subscribe to our magazine for a very special surprise coming your way in 2024!
