In a bid to further amp up their sales, Citroen India has launched a new special edition of the C3, Aircross, and the Basalt called the Dark Edition. The C3 Dark Edition is priced at Rs 8.38 lakh, the Basalt is priced at Rs 12.80 lakh, and the Aircross is priced at Rs 13.13 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Dark Edition models will be available in limited numbers. However, Citroen hasn’t specified the exact number of vehicles it plans to build. The first Basalt Dark Edition has been delivered to Citroen India brand ambassador and cricketing legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

What’s new on the outside?

As the name suggests, the Citroen Dark Editions stand out compared to the regular models, which sport an all-black theme inside and out. All Dark Edition models are offered with Perla Nera black exterior paint, and dark chrome adorns the grille, body mouldings, and badges. On the C3, the 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels have been retained, but the Dark Edition receives exclusive badging underneath the rearview mirrors.

What’s new inside?

On the inside, the Dark Edition Models feature a Carbon Black interior colour scheme with Metropolitan Black leatherette seats bearing Lava Red contrast detailing. Moreover, the front seats for all three vehicles will receive a ‘Dark Edition’ embroidery and grey inserts. Additional accessories, such as seat belts, cushions, and more, will also be available.

Powertrain and Features

As the Dark Editions are purely cosmetic and no mechanical changes are made, the Basalt and Aircorss will continue to offer a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 110 bhp and 19.37 kgm (with 6MT) and 25.49 kgm (with 6AT). Meanwhile, the C3 will be offered with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that develops 82 bhp and 11.72 kgm and will be mated solely to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Additionally, the C3 is also offered with the same powertrain as the Basalt and Aircross for customers looking for a more powerful engine option with an automatic gearbox.

As for the feature list, the Dark Editions retain the features found in the respective top variants on which they are based.
