The Tata Curvv made its mark in the EV market with a starting price of Rs. 17.49 Lakh but was received with mixed feelings. Despite this, the Tata EV platform only sold about 6,000 units in August 2024, fewer than the previous year. Moreover, Tata’s financials reveal that its EV sales are down five per cent year-on-year. So, what is the answer? Does Tata make a Curvv with internal combustion? Yes, that’s pretty much it.
To begin with, let’s talk about the powerhouse. Tata has introduced three engine variants with the Curvv: the Hyperion, Kryojet, and the Revotron. Here are the numbers:

Furthermore, the Curvv comes with a 6-speed manual transmission or Tata’s ‘DCA’ (Dual Clutch Automatic) in a 7-speed transmission system. The car can hold up to 44 litres of petrol and complies with the BS 6 phase 2 emission norms. The Curvv also offers three driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport. Stopping this car is a front disc and rear drum brake setup; however, the top-end variant comes with discs both in the front and rear.
Moving on to the exterior, the Curvv maintains a familiar modern-futuristic design to the Curvv EV. At the front, the Curvv features bi-functional headlamps that offer greeting and farewell animations. The front bumper remains largely the same, with its split design and side vents.
At the rear, the car mirrors its sibling with a beam tail lamp and a raised rear profile. It features a dual-tone roof and the same shark fin antenna as the EV version. The doors showcase flush handles, a popular trend in modern vehicles. The car rides on R18 alloy wheels with aero inserts, which Tata claims boost performance.
The tailgate now includes a powered leg gesture feature, and the boot offers a spacious 500-liter capacity.
Inside, the cabin retains its familiar look with the four-spoke illuminated digital steering wheel. The Curvv now adds a burgundy colour to the dashboard and interior.
The driver enjoys a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that doubles as a navigation display. A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, sits at the centre, alongside Alexa and Tata’s native voice AI. The 9-speaker JBL sound system delivers premium audio throughout the cabin. A feature in the Tata Curvv air purifier system is controllable through the central infotainment system. Additional amenities include auto-dimming rear-view mirrors, wireless charging, automatic headlights, and rain-sensing wipers.
The Tata Curvv also integrates with your phone through the ‘iRA Connected Car’, enabling diagnostics, vehicle status checks, locking and unlocking, and more.
The car also includes ventilated seats and a glove compartment for the driver and front passenger. Both front and rear seats have a reclining feature, and the latter comes with a 60:40 split for more storage.
Coming to safety, the car comes with ADAS Level 2, which includes lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, and more.
