On August 23, Hyundai launched the sixth generation (worldwide) Elantra in India at a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh., which undercuts its rivals. Thus the car makes a good case for itself, apart from looking brilliant, that is. And the market has liked it, too: with more than 7,817 enquiries and 405 bookings made already.
That’s a good number, especially the bookings, because looking at the sales trend, that’s pretty much what the segment leader manages every month. So as far as initial response goes, the Elantra is off to a good start.
Just to recapitulate, the car is available in both petrol and diesel engine choices. The former is a new, 152PS-producing 2-litre unit, while the latter is a 1.6-litre engine that makes 128PS and is shared with other products like the Verna and the Creta. Gearbox choices include both manual and automatic choices.
