Hyundai’s finally unveiled the i20’s lean and mean looking sibling, the i20 N Line. And it sure has a vibrant appeal to it. For instance, the grille gets a chequered flag pattern with the N Line badge on it, followed by red accents on the lower lip and side skirts. Even the front brake callipers get the red accent treatment. The 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels further adds character to it. Then, at the rear, you’ll find a tailgate spoiler with side wings and a twin tip muffler that sounds sporty, too.

Step inside and the i20 N Line will greet you with a welcome message when you switch on the car. That’s one of the many features added to its latest voice recognition commands. Further, it gets a fully-digital 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a fully digital instrument cluster. It even offers wireless charging and cooling pad along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Apart from that, you get plenty of connected and safety features. Six airbags and tyre pressure monitoring system are a few among others.

Again, if you somehow couldn’t spot the difference between the regular i20 and the i20 N Line then the peculiar N chequered flag designed leather seats with the N logo on it should be a clear giveaway. Or a quick glance at the steering wheel or the gear knob that dons the N logo should bury all your doubts.

The i20 N Line still offers the same 118-bhp 1.0-litre three cylinder turbo petrol engine, paired to either a 7-speed DCT (with paddle shifters) or a 6-speed iMT. Oh, and it does 0-100 kph in 9.9 seconds. That’s quick-ish. And with disc brakes on all four corners, it should be quick to come to a halt as well. Interestingly, Hyundai’s also gone ahead and tweaked with its ride and handling. The suspension is sportier and it’s apparently improved the on-steering feel.

While we are waiting for our time to get behind its wheel, in the meantime, if you like what you see then you can book one at Hyundai’s nearest Signature Dealerships or book online for Rs 25,000. Stay tuned for our review on it!
