The latest addition to the BMW X1’s variant list is the Tech Edition. If it isn’t obvious from the name, this variant comes with the latest tech. Priced at Rs 43 lakh, ex-showroom, the X1 Tech Edition also sits at the top of the X1 range.
The big noticeable change is inside, then. It features a 10.25-inch high-resolution touch screen with the good old iDrive controller. Further, it comes with a head-up display, wireless charging and a 205-W Hi-Fi sound system.
Visually, it’s identical to the X1’s facelifted version and the only change you’ll notice are the set of new 18-inch alloys. Oh, and the X1 Tech Edition can be specced in two colour options: Alpine White and Phytonic Blue. Both are metallic based colour options and features a leatherette Oyster Black upholstery.
Since this is just a tech update of sorts, the X1’s mechanical bits haven’t changed either. Powering the X1 is a 189-bhp 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that puts out 28.55 kgm of torque, paired to a 7-speed DCT. On the safety side of things, it features six airbags, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, traction control, ESP and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. Now, the X1 stands as a direct rival to the recently launched Mercedes-Benz GLA and an outdated Audi Q2. Which one would be your pick?
