MG has finally launched the much-awaited Gloster in India. Prices for the SUV start at Rs 28.98 lakh and top off at Rs 35.38 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). These are introductory prices valid till 31st October or the first 2000 customers, whichever comes first. Furthermore, MG is providing a Rs 50,000 bonus for customers through its My MG Shield customisation package. This will be included in the aforementioned pricing.
The Gloster is powered by a 1996cc, twin-turbo, diesel which produces 215 bhp and 48.94 kgm, and has a four-wheel-drive system. This motor comes mated to ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic gearbox. There’s also a single turbo diesel on offer which comes with 2WD and produces 160 bhp and 38.23 kgm of torque. The turbo-diesel variants of the Gloster come in two trims – Super (7 seats) and Smart (6 seats), while the twin-turbo diesel versions get three – Sharp (7 seats), Sharp (6 seats) and Savvy (6 seats).
With pricing like this, the Gloster is taking the fight straight to the competition which includes the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, Honda CR-V and Mahindra Alturas G4. Apart from this, the Gloster comes with an array of features, chief among which is the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which gives it an Autonomous Level-1 rating.
