Finally breaking what was a rather long silent streak, Isuzu Motors has given us yet another updated version of the D-Max V-Cross. Why do we say ‘yet another?’ Because while the rest of the world enjoys the third-generation D-Max V-Cross, we continue to make do with the second-gen model. Nevertheless, Isuzu Motors is offering the 2024 D-Max V-Cross in three variants; the Hi-Lander (Rs 21.19 lakh), the V-Cross Z (Rs 25.51 lakh), and the V-Cross Z Prestige (Rs 26.91 lakh, all prices ex-showroom).
Since we continue to get the second-gen V-Cross, it bears the familiar design we’ve been seeing since 2016. Bits like the grille, front and rear bumpers, roof rails, ORVMs, and the wheel arch fender lips now receive grey finish, while the 18-inch alloy rims are finished in black.
The cabin has been retained as well and there are no changes in that aspect. However, Isuzu says the rear bench is now inclined further behind to enhance passenger comfort. Keeping safety in mind, all passengers now receive three-point seat belts, and a seatbelt reminder. There are some additions to the equipment list; the manual transmission versions get traction control, electronic stability control, hill descent control and hill start assist.
Things remain unchanged under the hood as well; the 1.9-litre diesel mill with 160 bhp and 36.70 kgm of torque, with the option of either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, and also available with shift-on-the-fly 4×4. Load carrying capacity stands at 215 kg (180 kg for the top-end Z Prestige variant). As for the third-gen D-Max V-Cross, maybe next time…
