Suzuki has finally introduced the V-Strom 800DE in the Indian market at an introductory price of Rs 10.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Japanese ADV will be available in three colours — Champion Yellow No. 2, Glass Mat Mechanical Gray and Glass Sparkle Black.
The V-Strom 800DE features a distinct, maxi-enduro styling; a big step from the bulky-looking V-Strom 650XT. However, at 230 kg, the new model isn’t really light. That said, it comes with all the goodies like adjustable Showa suspension at both ends, adjustable windscreen, a large 20-litre fuel tank, electronic aids and a 21/17-inch wire-spoke rim setup. However, unlike the 650, this is not a tubeless one.
Suzuki has used an all-new frame to mount the new 776cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that makes 84 bhp and 7.7 kgm. That’s around 14 bhp and 1.4 kgm more than the previous model.
The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE takes on the likes of the Honda Transalp 750 and the Triumph Tiger Sport 850 in India. However, this is most affordable between the two. That said, the Honda ADV is the most powerful of the lot. But which of these would be the best bet? Well, we can be certain after a thorough test.
