KTM has unveiled the new 1390 Super Adventure S Evo ahead of EICMA 2024. The brand’s flagship ADV now comes with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) and features some other newly launched tech from the Austrian brand.
Powered by an upsized 1350cc, V-twin engine, the 1390 Super Adventure S Evo pushes power figures of 171 bhp and 14.78 kgm of torque, paired with an AMT, seen as a prototype in the hands of Johnny Aubert on the Iron Road Prologue at the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo. This AMT unit also gets a manual mode, wherein riders can switch gears using a foot lever or bar-mounted paddles.
The ADV features new ‘Camshift’ technology, which, according to KTM, improves rideability in the low rpm range, higher peak performance, low emissions, and fuel consumption. At higher revs, the inlet cams shift sideways, opening the valves longer and higher to flood the cylinder with gas, unleashing maximum performance. In the lower rev range, the inlet cams dial back the valve timing and lift, optimizing rideability.
With regard to the design, the 1390 Super Adventure S Evo gets new bodywork and seat design, an all-new LED headlight, new windshields, and a new storage compartment, to mention a few changes. The ADV also features a newly developed frame that is claimed to be stiffer for better handling and track stability and gets WP semi-active suspension with 200 mm of travel on both the front and rear.
The ADV comes with a new 8-inch TFT touchscreen instrument console which was unveiled recently by KTM and a whole list of electronic aids, including riding modes, traction control and ABS. The bike additionally gets adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, and brake assistance features. We look forward to seeing the motorcycle on Indian roads too, considering that there are whispers of KTM bringing their big bikes to the country.
