Harley-Davidson is keen on introducing us to the American culture. And while the launch of its whole wide range of motorcycles is a clear example, the company wants to take it even further. The bike-maker has now brought Flat Track Racing to India, effectively helping motorcycle enthusiasts here enjoy what Americans have been doing for decades.
A two-day training session was conducted at John Singh Speedway in Rajasthan. It was led by International Flat Track legend Marco Belli, who helped participants master the art. Day one was all about introduction to Flat Track and the techniques involved while the following day witnessed two races.
Four Harley-Davidson Street Rod motorcycles were prepared by Rajputana Customs. The major modifications included new handlebar, seat, fuel tank, exhaust, wheels, and tyres. Vijay Singh Ajairajpura of Rajputana Custom Motorcycles said, ““We designed the first purpose-built Street 750 that was showcased during the exhibition rides at India Bike Week in 2017. The Street Rod is a versatile machine that holds well not only in the urban jungle but also on the dirt track. We are extremely proud to have been associated on this journey with Harley-Davidson.”
Harley-Davidson India and China’s MD, Peter MacKenzie said, “Marco Belli has a long standing association with Harley-Davidson ® and we’re extremely happy to have him lead the first Harley-Davidson ® Flat Track experience in India. With this endeavour, we wish to garner more acceptance for the sport, encourage the setting-up of amateur flat tracks in the country and continue to fulfil dreams of personal freedom through riding experiences and events curated for like-minded individuals.”
