Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML) has achieved a significant milestone in India’s electric commercial vehicle market, crossing 4 lakh cumulative electric vehicle sales. The company has become the first commercial vehicle manufacturer in the country to reach this sales figure, underlining the growing adoption of electric mobility in the last-mile transportation segment.
The milestone encompasses Mahindra’s passenger and cargo electric vehicle portfolio, which has been deployed extensively across urban and semi-urban markets. According to the company, its electric vehicles have collectively travelled more than 9 billion kilometres in last-mile applications since their introduction.
Beyond sales, Mahindra says the growing electric vehicle fleet has also contributed to reducing emissions. The company estimates that the distance covered by its electric vehicles has helped avoid approximately 1.85 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions. Mahindra equates this environmental benefit to the impact of planting more than 8.3 million trees.
The achievement comes as demand for electric three-wheelers and small commercial vehicles continues to grow, driven by increasing operating costs, the need for efficient urban transportation and greater awareness of sustainable mobility. Electric last-mile vehicles have also emerged as an important option for fleet operators and individual drivers, particularly in high-utilisation applications where lower running and maintenance costs can offer significant advantages.
Mahindra Last Mile Mobility has been expanding its electric vehicle presence across both passenger and cargo applications, targeting the diverse requirements of India’s last-mile mobility ecosystem. The company believes the transition towards electric mobility will play an increasingly important role in transforming urban transportation.
Crossing the 4 lakh sales mark therefore represents more than a commercial achievement for MLMML. It also highlights the growing role of electric vehicles in India’s last-mile transportation network, as the country moves towards cleaner and more efficient mobility solutions.
