Mahindra celebrated Independence Day by unveiling four groundbreaking SUV concepts that showcase the brand’s future design direction. These models – the rugged Vision T and Vision SXT, along with the more compact Vision S and Vision X – all share Mahindra’s revolutionary NU_IQ platform, designed to accommodate both electric and conventional powertrains for global markets. Production is scheduled to begin by 2027, marking a significant step in the company’s global ambitions.
The Vision T represents an evolution of last year’s Thar.e concept, featuring classic SUV styling with distinctive design elements. It boasts a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, bold box-shaped LED lighting, and cleverly positioned rear door handles mounted on the C-pillar, similar to the Thar Roxx.

Its more adventurous counterpart, the Vision SXT, transforms into a unique adventure pickup design with a shortened rear deck that ingeniously houses dual spare tires and incorporates roll bars for added functionality. While both models share rugged characteristics like chunky grilles and squared-off wheel arches, they differentiate themselves through carefully crafted details like unique alloy wheel designs and distinctive front-end treatments.

Pratap Bose, Chief Design & Creative Officer – Auto & Farm Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, “The NU_IQ SUVs, designed at our Global Design studios in Mumbai and Banbury, represent the start of a new chapter of our HEARTCORE design philosophy. They build on the central tenet that great design should create an emotional bond between people and their vehicles while re-imagining it for a new future. Based on the theme ‘Opposites Attract’, where the juxtaposition of contrasting elements creates an expressive new design language, these concepts promise to shape experiences that inspire adventure, confidence, and connection on any terrain, anywhere in the world.”

For urban adventurers, Mahindra presents the Vision S compact SUV with its practical yet stylish boxy silhouette. The model features eye-catching inverted L-shaped lighting elements, a conveniently placed tailgate spare wheel, and functional D-pillar accessories. While maintaining some off-road design cues, its overall appearance suggests more road-focused dynamics suited for city driving. Standing in contrast is the sleek Vision X crossover, which breaks from tradition with its coupe-like profile. This futuristic model boasts slim, connected LED lighting, innovative turbine-style alloy wheels, and stylish faux roof rails, representing Mahindra’s most avant-garde design to date.

The foundation for all these concepts is Mahindra’s advanced NU_IQ platform, which offers remarkable flexibility. This cutting-edge architecture enables multiple powertrain configurations including both electric and internal combustion options. It supports sophisticated connected car technologies and will house modern interiors featuring digital screens and advanced driver assistance systems. Designed with global markets in mind, the platform demonstrates Mahindra’s commitment to competing on the world stage.
While Mahindra has kept interior details under wraps for now, industry experts anticipate radical cabin designs featuring multiple large displays and premium features. These concept vehicles signal Mahindra’s ambitious transition from value-oriented SUVs to technologically advanced global products.
When production versions arrive by 2027, they will likely feature more restrained designs compared to these dramatic concepts, but will undoubtedly strengthen Mahindra’s position in India’s competitive SUV market while appealing to international buyers seeking capable, tech-forward vehicles.
