More from Motoring

Maserati’s turning 110, and instead of the usual dull speeches and a supermarket cake, they’ve gone full Italian drama. The gift? The GranTurismo 110 Anniversario, is a car that’s less “four wheels and a roof” and more “rolling art installation with a side of lunacy.”

Now, the GranTurismo has always been a bit of a showstopper. It’s the kind of car that makes valets swoon and causes heads to turn so sharply they risk whiplash. But this one? This one’s dialled up to eleven and smashed the knob clean off.

Maserati’s taken the old “marry tradition with the future” schtick and turned it into a proper masterpiece. For the first time ever, they’ve slapped in a fully electric powertrain with the Folgore version. Yes, Maserati, the proud maker of howling V8s, has traded petrol for volts. And let’s be honest, it works.

Limited Edition: Because You’re Not Like the Others

Here’s the deal: only 110 of these will ever exist, one for every year Maserati has been making the rest of the world feel a bit inferior. They’re split between two jaw-dropping colours—Rame Folgore (fancy for “copper but make it posh”) and Blu Inchiostro (“ink blue” that’s deep enough to drown in).

Both come with custom black-and-copper rims and interiors swathed in either denim (yes, denim) or black Econyl, with stitching that matches the exterior theme. It’s like a suit tailor-made for a car, only cooler.

And let’s not forget the pièce de résistance: the 110 Anniversario logo. A tilted Trident paired with a slick “110” saying, “I’ve been fabulous for over a century, darling.”

It is More Than Just a Pretty Face

This isn’t just another pretty face in the car park; the GranTurismo Folgore is a Defacto rocketship on four wheels. Maserati’s taken the whole “electric can be exciting” mantra and run with it—very quickly. With a tri-motor setup, it dishes out a ridiculous 751 bhp and 137.7 kgm of torque. To put that in perspective, that’s enough to make your eyeballs consider relocating to the back of your skull.

All that grunt is backed by an 800-volt battery system, which means it’ll launch from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.7 seconds. Blink and you’ll miss it. Top speed? A frankly absurd 320 kph. It’s like a spaceship, but Italian, and far better dressed.

Oh, and They’re Racing It Too

Maserati hasn’t stopped at road cars. The Tipo Folgore, their electric single-seater, is bringing the 110 logo to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in São Paulo this December. Draped in a stunning blue-and-rose-gold livery, it’s as if someone told Maserati, “Make something fast but also fabulous,” and they nailed it.

This news also comes after Maserati has confirmed to stay in the Formula E World Championship till the 2029/2030 season. Their season this year saw two amazing races and remained rather neutral otherwise. For more information on that story, click here.

The Big Reveal

The GranTurismo 110 Anniversario gets its moment in the spotlight on 30 November at Maserati’s Modena HQ. It’s part of the Trident Experience, which we imagine involves sipping outrageously good wine, eating food you can’t pronounce, and marvelling at Maserati’s 110 years of being utterly fabulous.

So, what’s the verdict? The GranTurismo 110 Anniversario isn’t just a car; it’s a full-blown Italian flex with a smug grin aimed squarely at everyone who doubted Maserati could nail electric. It’s fast, it’s drop-dead gorgeous, and it’s dripping with Maserati swagger. What’s not to love?
