Hero MotoCorp has introduced the new flagship member of the Xtreme family — the Xtreme 250R. This is the first attempt by Hero in the quarter-litre naked segment to take on the domination of the KTM 250 Duke.

The Hero Xtreme 250R is powered by an all-new 250cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 29.4 bhp and 2.5 kgm. This is exactly the same as the KTM 250 Duke. While Hero MotoCorp has not yet confirmed it yet, the Xtreme 250R should get a 6-speed gearbox clubbed with a slipper clutch.

In terms of design, the Hero Xtreme 250R is very close to the 2.5R concept that was showcased last year. So, it gets a muscular tank like the other Xtreme bikes complemented by sharp tank extensions and headlight.

The Xtreme 250R flaunts gold-painted USD fork and monoshock suspension setup while braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends backed by dual-channel ABS. Interestingly, the model shown at EICMA featured Pirelli Gran Turismo tyres at both ends, but we expect MRF rubbers.

Hero MotoCorp is likely to launch the bike at Hero World 2025 along with its faired sibling — the Karizma XMR 250. The 250cc naked is likely to be priced at around Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom) which will make it almost Rs 50,000 cheaper than the 250 Duke.
