The Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun have been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Global NCAP. Both cars scored a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection as well as child occupant safety. It can be noted that both the Kushaq and Taigun are built on the same platform and at the same plant in Pune.

According to the test report, both the Taigun and Kushaq demonstrated a stable structure in a frontal impact, adequate to good protection for adult occupants and marginal to good protection in the side impact scenarios. Overall, both the Kushaq and Taigun scored 29.64 points out of 34 points in adult occupant protection, and 42 points out of 49 points in child occupant protection.
The test cars were equipped with dual front airbags, seat belt pre-tensioners and load limiters, seat belt reminder, ESC and ISOFIX. The cars are also the first vehicles to be tested according to the new, more demanding testing protocol by Global NCAP. The Kushaq and Taigun have now joined the elite list of Mahindra XUV700 and XUV300 besides Tata Motors Nexon and Punch as the only SUVs from India to have achieved the highest safety ratings at Global NCAP.
