BGauss is an electric two-wheeler brand which is a part of the RR Global brand group. For those adept in advertising and marketing, it is associated with the RR Kabel electric solutions brand. BGauss has now launched another new electric scooter called the C12i EX, prices for which begin from Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom). The scooter is available in two variants –  the C12i EX and the C12i MAX which has been on sale since June 2023, and it can be yours for Rs 1.26 lakh (ex-showroom).

When it comes to EVs, it all begins with range. The BGauss C12i EX receives a removable battery pack with LFP chemistry, and the range differs between variants. The C12i EX receives a 2 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 85 km. This battery pack is waterproof, and it can be charged in a claimed time of 3 hours. Sounds good, but let’s wait for a review for judgment. In terms of performance, the hub-mounted electric motor of the C12i produces 3.3 bhp and 10.7 kgm of torque, thus propelling the scooter to a top speed of 60 kmph.

In terms of design, the BGauss C12i carries a design theme relevant to the current times. The round headlight suggests retro, but the dual-tone paint schemes add a bit of ‘snazziness’ to it. The C12i can also be had in single-tone paint schemes. Basically, it looks like a scooter that follows a retro theme, albeit not too hard.

In terms of features, there isn’t a lot that’s mentioned, but the C12i EX gets hill-hold, and a low battery mode that reduces its top speed to 20 kmph when the range percentage falls below 10.

The BGauss C12i EX seems to rival the plethora of low-cost electric scooters available in the Indian market, more notably the Ola S1 X that can be had from Rs 89,999 (ex-showroom) onwards. Competition is a good thing then, it seems.
