BMW India recently provided us with the updated version of the iX, affording us a golden opportunity to explore the enhancements made to this cutting-edge electric vehicle. As we delved into the details of the revamped iX, it became apparent that BMW has diligently refined and improved upon an already impressive electric SUV. Our test drive aimed not only to assess the aesthetic and performance upgrades but also to delve into the crucial aspects of range and charging capabilities. Spending a couple of days immersed in the driving experience of the BMW iX, we aimed to uncover how it has evolved to meet the demands of an ever-evolving electric automotive landscape.

The latest iteration of the BMW iX heralds a new era of sophistication and comfort, seamlessly blending cutting-edge technology with luxurious amenities. Among the standout features introduced in this model are the inclusion of air suspension and advanced connected drive technology. Step inside, and you’ll find a haven of opulence, adorned with leather seats that boast a massage function for an indulgent driving experience. The ambience is further enhanced by the gentle glow of ambient lighting, creating an inviting atmosphere within the cabin.

The BMW iX doesn’t compromise on the technology front either, as it showcases a host of hightech conveniences. The driver is greeted by a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, offering seamless integration with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The immersive experience is elevated with an 18-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ensuring a symphony of sound that complements the journey.

Beyond the technical prowess, the iX stands out for its unparalleled attention to detail and impeccable craftsmanship. The interiors exude a sense of luxury, with rear seats so well-padded that they evoke the comfort of a sofa. The BMW iX xDrive40 commands attention with its robust performance, driven by dual electric motors delivering an impressive combined output of 321 bhp and 64.24 kgm of torque. This power translates into a remarkable 0-100 kph acceleration time of just 5.6 seconds, a feat that stands out for a vehicle of its stature in the large SUV segment. Powering the iX xDrive40 is a 76.6 kWh battery pack, providing a commendable WLTP range of up to 425 km on a single charge.

When time is of the essence, the iX can be fast-charged at up to 150 kW, allowing a swift addition of 95 km of range in just 10 minutes. The versatility of the iX xDrive40 extends beyond its impressive power and range to its five driving modes, catering to diverse driving preferences.
