The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra recently set a remarkable prototype lap time of 6 minutes and 48.874 seconds at Germany’s Nurburgring, as claimed by the manufacturer, surpassing the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT’s record, though this won’t be officially recognized as it was a prototype. The production model is set to start testing in 2025.

The Xiaomi SU7 debuted in China earlier this year, receiving a positive response from consumers, despite some minor issues. Production is managed by BAIC Off-road in Beijing. The SU7 is available in three versions — SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max with battery options ranging from 73.6 kWh to 101 kWh. The SU7 Max boasts a range of up to 800 km and impressive performance figures of 670 bhp.

Xiaomi has packed the SU7 Ultra with a powerful triple HyperEngine motor setup. This includes two V8s motors and one V6s motor, strategically placed across the front and rear wheels to deliver optimal performance. Together, the motors generate a whopping 1527 bhp of peak power. Xiaomi claims the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 1.97 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric cars in the world. It can reach 200 kph in 5.96 seconds, and an incredible 300 kph in 15.07 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 350 kph.

Prices range from 215,900 yuan (about Rs 25 lakh) to 299,900 yuan (about Rs 35 lakh) and the SU7 is exclusive to China, with no immediate plans for an India launch, as Xiaomi focuses on its domestic market. Furthermore, Ford CEO Jim Farley praised the vehicle after importing it to the US, expressing his enthusiasm after six months of ownership.
