Xiaomi, known for its consumer electronic devices, has introduced its first electric sedan, the SU7, in Bangalore. This marks Xiaomi’s entry into the automotive sector, aiming to integrate a smarter ecosystem into user transportation needs.

The SU7 is available internationally with three battery pack options: 73.6 kWh, 94.3 kWh, and 101 kWh. These provide a range of up to 830 km and come in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options. The top-spec variant boasts a peak power output of 663.7 bhp and a maximum torque of 85.4 kgm, accelerating from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.78 seconds and achieving a top speed of 265 kph.

The exterior design features a sleek, low-flow look, reminiscent of the Porsche Taycan. Key design elements include teardrop-shaped LED headlights, 21-inch alloy wheels, connected LED tail lights, and an active rear spoiler. Xiaomi claims an air drag coefficient of 0.195, compared to the average sedan’s 0.25 to 0.30 with the SU7, but we are yet to see the same in actual test runs.

The Interior of the SU7 offers a minimalistic interior with a 56-inch heads-up display, a 7-inch driver’s display, and a 16.1 touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel has a three-spoke design, matching the panoramic glass roof and upholstery. Features include wireless phone charging, powered front seats, a 25-speaker sound system, and ADAS with LiDAR. Safety features encompass a 7-airbag system, ABS with EBD, and ESC.

Storage capacity includes 520 litres in the back and an additional 105 litres in the front. Charging times for each variant are:

Colour options include Aqua Blue, Verdant Green, and Mineral Gray, with more colours like meteor blue, basalt gray, lava orange, pearl white, diamond black, and radiant purple expected to be announced.

Xiaomi has not confirmed the launch date for the SU7 in India. In China, the price ranges from ¥215,900 to ¥299,900 (Rs 24.78 lakh to Rs 34.43 lakh).
