Not on YouTube, obviously! Or maybe that, too, but this is about Volkswagen offering its car, the VW Polo, through a subscription-based model to its customers. The German carmaker has partnered with self-drive platform Zoomcar for the service, and has also supplied the latter with 200 units of the Polo. Other carlines/models are likely to follow in the future.
With Zoomcar Zap Subscribe, the idea of shared mobility becomes stronger. While Zoomcar will be the platform for subscription, the financial and after-sales services will be handled by VW (the latter under its 4EVER Care campaign).
Volkswagen Passenger Cars’ MD, Steffen Knapp said, “Through this partnership with Zoomcar, Volkswagen India enters into shared mobility and subscription services. As a brand, world over, we intend to transform the mobility sector by participating in various business models that drive growth, offer convenience and heightened customer satisfaction. We’re delighted to offer our best-selling carline – Volkswagen Polo through this channel, which enables prospective customers the accessibility to a premium, safe and fun-to-drive hatch.”
Zoomcar’s Co-Founder and CEO, Greg Moran said, “Zoomcar is thrilled to partner with Volkswagen to offer its vehicles on India’s only shared subscription marketplace, ZAP Subscribe. Given Volkswagen’s long history as an innovator within the automotive space, we felt they were a natural partner as we look to provide an affordable, flexible alternative to traditional vehicle ownership.”
Volkswagen Finance India’s MD and CEO, Aashish Deshpande added, “The partnership is a step towards the evolution of the consumer buying behavior to a fast paced shared mobility market.”
