The Toyota Fortuner just continues to grow in popularity despite being overdue for a generational-upgrade; ask anybody how many times does one see a brand-new Fortuner everyday especially if you live in Haryana. Quite possibly to suit the demands of…. erm, local leaders, Toyota is now set to launch yet another new variant called the Fortuner Leader Edition. With no prices out yet, Toyota has commenced bookings for this new variant.

The Fortuner Leader retains the ever-indestructible 2.8-litre diesel engine, and you can opt for either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. However, it can only be had in the 4×2 guise.

There are three dual-tone paint schemes to choose from — super white, platinum pearl white, and silver metallic, all three with black roof finish. The alloys also receive black finish, while the front and rear bumpers receive ‘spoilers’ that can be fitted by Toyota dealers as part of the accessories pack. On the inside, the Fortuner Leader gets dual-tone upholstery on the seats, while the features list includes auto-fold ORVMs, wireless smartphone charging, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Prices are yet to be announced, but the Fortuner Leader is likely to command a premium over the regular Fortuner 4×2. Would you buy this special edition over the Jeep Meridian and MG Gloster?
