Toyota is rolling out the red carpet for the 40th anniversary of the AE86 Corolla with a Japan-exclusive tribute: the GR86 40th Anniversary Limited. This high-spec RZ trim special edition boasts a snazzy exterior, drenched in either Spark Red or Crystal White Pearl, adorned with decals reminiscent of the AE86’s iconic red/black and white/black two-tone design. Rolling on 18-inch wheels with a chic dark gray metallic finish and 215/40 R18 tires, it’s all dressed up for the occasion.

Inside, this limited-edition GR86 dons black and red upholstery with snazzy red stitching on the seats, steering wheel, and dashboard. For added flair, it features unique floor mats sporting the “40th Anniversary” logo and door sill plates emblazoned with “GR86.”

Besides the visual feast, the GR86 40th Anniversary Limited packs a performance punch. ZF Sachs shock absorbers and Brembo ventilated disc brakes join the party, enhancing the car’s handling and stopping prowess.

Under the hood, you’ll find the same 2.4-liter boxer engine as its standard counterpart, churning out 225 bhp and 25.43 kgm of torque. Buyers can take their pick between a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

The catch? Only 200 lucky souls in Japan will have the chance to call this limited edition their own. While the GR86 40th Anniversary Limited remains a Japan-exclusive, it’s bound to set the hearts of Toyota fans racing worldwide. This tribute to the iconic AE86 blends style and performance, ensuring its place in the annals of automotive history. Now you just have to wonder it this new GR86 will get its own anime series like the original AE86 had a dedicated anime show for it.
