If you’re thinking Tata Motors is just working on electric vehicles as an alternative fuel source, you’re wrong. Chances are, you are someone who’s looking to buy a CNG car, but you’ve had to opt out of this category, as none of the options feature an automatic transmission. Well, guess what; that changes now!

After commencing bookings for the Tiago, Tiago NRG, and Tigor iCNG AMT for Rs 21,000, Tata Motors has now launched the automatic versions of the same. Prices for the Tiago iCNG AMT range between Rs 7.84 lakh to Rs 8.89 lakh, while the Tigor iCNG AMT can be yours from between Rs 8.84 lakh to Rs 9.54 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

Like we said before, both cars retain the 1.2-litre petrol powertrain packing 72 horses and 9.69 kgm of torque. Tata claims the iCNG Tiago and Tigor have a consumption figure of 28.06 kpl. The twin-CNG cylinder solution, first seen on the Altroz iCNG, now makes its way onto the Tiago and Tigor iCNG AMT as well, and in fact this will also be seen on the Nexon iCNG, but more about that later.

Things remain unchanged on the outside as well on both cars, with the exception of new paint schemes. The Tiago and Tiago NRG now get new shades of tornado blue and grassland beige respectively. Meanwhile, the Tigor iCNG AMT gets a new shade of meteor bronze.

Would you buy an automatic CNG car? We might know the answer in a few months, but do let us know what you think!
