No matter what your stance may be on electric vehicles, you can’t deny there’s always some buzz going around them. There’s always the ICE vs EV debate, and how the latter is typically more expensive than its combustion-engined counterpart. But let’s stick to the matter at hand for now.
If you’re a first-time buyer and have been considering getting the Tata Tiago.ev, you can breathe a sigh of relief, with prices now beginning from Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards, which is Rs 70,000 lesser than before. Interestingly, the medium-range Nexon.ev also shares its price tag with the Punch.ev, having received a Rs 1.2 lakh price drop. However, the long-range Nexon.ev comes in at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
At the risk of repeating ourselves, EVs are typically costlier than their ICE counterparts. Why do you think that is? While the reasons are plenty, one key factor is the cost of battery cells. Tata says the reason for this price drop is due to the reduction of battery cell costs. Tata also claims that EV sales registered a 100% year-on-year growth in the 2024 calendar year.
