The Fortuner has never been one to pack in the latest features, instead focusing on goodies to give it excellent off-roading capabilities. For the latest update, however, Toyota just gave the new Thailand-market Fortuner all the features you could want. So, what’s new in the Fortuner now?
For starters, it gets a 360-degree camera with parking sensors, a kick-activated rear hatch, a 9-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, paddle shifters, cruise control and a whole lot of connected features which can track car’s data remotely. A timely update, we think.
Toyota has introduced two new variants, a standard base variant and a top-spec variant called the Legender, both of which have noticeable differences on the outside.
In the base variant, the front now houses a large grille with a chrome surround, redesigned headlights with LED DRLs. Not much has changed at the rear except for new sleek-looking tail-lights. The top-sped Legender trim gets a Lexus-ish bumper on top of all the changes from the base car. Oh, and it gets 20-inch wheels standard.
The Fortuner has upped the output of its 2.8-litre diesel engine, taking its power figures to 201 bhp and 50.98 kgm of peak torque. The Fortuner can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic with the usual rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options.
